1st Chemo Cap Done!

I finally did it! One of my customers is going back in for chemo and was depressed about losing her hair again so I made her a chemo cap. I had never made one before (been meaning to) but never got around to it. I wanted to make sure she'd have one when she came in next. I whipped my first one up in just a couple of hourse using Lion Brand MicroSpun and Fun Fur. When she came in yesterday I gave it to her and she was tickled pink! She couldn't believe it! She came back in again today (to reborrow) and she said she had gotten several comments about it and how much her son said it knocked off several years. To know how much confidence it gave her made me feel so good. I am going to make it a point to start making a certain number of chemo caps throughout the year and give them away to local treatment centers. I was just so happy that she liked it and that it put a smile on her face!

Like I didn't have enough on my plate already...

Well, Thursday afternoon at work my left foot started to ache. Nothing real big but it was annoying. By the time I got home I could hardly walk. As the evening progressed my foot hurt so bad it was unbearable. DH took me to the Emergency Room and by this time I was insane in the amount of pain I was in. I was literally weeping out loud uncontrollably. After everything was said and done they told me that my foot wasn't infected but that I had bone spurs.

We know my foot is infected. I keep going between a nasty fever and the horrendous chills and my foot itself is hot to the touch. Will have to go to my Dr. on Monday and see if he can do anything for me. For the moment I'm on crutches and as I couldn't miss anymore work I'm working in agonizing pain. My DH brought me to work yesterday and basically put all my files and such all withing reaching distance so the only time I have to get up is to get my lunch or go to the bathroom.

Heck, my hand isn't all the way healed yet for Carpal Tunnel Surgery. It's very frustrating. Not sure why I feel like I have this black hole around me but I have never had this many medical things wrong with me in my life.

The past few days have been quite depressing for me. Bear with me friends. I'll be myself again in a few days. I always am...

A special thank you to my special friends (you know who you are) that let me cry on your shoulder and are always there for me.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Doug's nephews are over to help us start packing.

Yup, we are moving!

Well, we will officially be moving on June 30th and July 1st. What a way for me to spend my birthday huh? If anyone here has me in a swap or anything and I haven't contacted you yet, please e-mail me so that I can give you my new info. The post office will not forward packages so I want to make sure that I get all my lovely puffies and such!!!

Now I have to contact all the utility companies and such and get everything switched over. We're not sure what we're going to do about our land line phone and DSL service. The only people that ever call our home phone is Doug's mom and telemarketers so really why do we need it? I use my cell for all my long distance calls. The only reason we haven't gotten rid of it to date is because we use Sprint for our DSL service and you need to have standard phone service for that. Sprint is not only a rip off but there are other companies we could use. We love our DirecTV with Tivo but are not going to pay over $500 to install their cable modem especially as we'll not only lose picture but internet when it rains. We don't want to switch to cable but may take advantage of the cable high speed service which you can get without having cable. I think they charge you a little bit more if you don't have cable but in the long run I think it'll be better than Sprint. We'll see but right now we're in the "thinking" faze. If anyone has good suggestions, please let me know!

The cool thing about moving a month earlier than we thought is that we'll have another extra month to enjoy the pool before winter gets here. To say I'm ansy to get in there is putting it mildly. We had one of those nice above ground 18 foot pools they sell at Wal-Mart and it was really nice but after hurting my leg last year I knew I wouldn't be able to climb up and down the ladder so we didn't put it up. However, getting in and out of an inground pool is something I will be able to do. Not only that, but it's a lap pool so Doug and I will be able to do water-aerobics in it (something we couldn't do in our little above ground pool) and try and get some of this weight off.

Well, I had better get back to work... Just wanted to pass this info along to those of you who may be mailing me something in the near future!!!

Survivor CAL

So I'm in tribe Tadoma over at CAL Pals and Julie sent each one of us our tribe buffs and the most adorable little plaque. Sorry for the poor quality pic but I used the web cam to take it and it's not the best quality. The plaque has a lizard and snake on it as well as a crochet hook and it says "Survivor, This certificate is awarded to Donna for her participation in the First CALPals Survivor Competition." I just love it! I don't know where Julie comes up with these neat ideas but she keeps us hopping over there!

This CAL is for a fellow CAL Pal who just had a baby a couple of days ago. It's our team against another team called the "Late Racers". We were provided with a total of 15 oz of baby yarn and have to, as a team, come up with the neatest gifts we can give our new mommy for the baby. We have to use only the yarn we have and a few embellishments. We can use less than the total amount given, but no more. Our team has some awesome ideas and let's just say we are gonna kick tribe Late Racers behinds!!!!

Anyway, Julie wanted a pic of us with our buffs so I thought I'd post it on here! Since I got my stitches out this afternoon I'm off to get started on my Survivor item!!!

Over The Hedge ~ Movie Review

So Doug and I went and saw this on Sunday afternoon. It was one of the best digitally animated movies we have seen in awhile. Very nicely done and the story line was great. We were laughing the entire time. The pit bull was shown in a very funny light running after the animals saying "play play play play" which reminded us of Tweety.

If you're like us and have been disappointed by the recent animated movies, this one is worth the price of admission and then some.
