2 days til we move!

Well, we got the keys for the new house tonite! Thank goodness we got the lease all straightened out and everything is ready to go! I haven't been sleeping well with the zillion things I've been thinking about every night so I think I may have to take some Tylenol PM to catch some ZZZZ's tonite.

Our furniture is supposed to be delivered in 2-3 weeks so that's taken care of. The only thing we are still uncertain of is the car. We are trying to buy a new car and after the local dealer tried to jerk us around on my trade in and some other things (financing) I called my nephew who sells cars in Indiana and we are close to buying it from him instead. It's a 2006 but was previously owned for a short time and has 14,000 miles on it. It's got a lot of bells and whistles on it for a much cheaper price than a brand new one with no extras. My brother is supposed to be taking a look at the vehicle for me tonite and letting me know whether it's as good as we had hoped. If we gives it the thumbs up we will have the new vehicle as soon as my nephew can drive it down here.

My birthday is Friday and it was a nice surprise to get a Birthday card from my best friend Veronica when I went to the new house tonite! With the move and everything I'll be shocked if my hubby remembers to wish me a happy birthday so it was nice to know that I wasn't forgotten about.

Just a reminder that depending on how busy I am at work, I may not be able to update my blog or answer e-mails or PM's for about a week as we won't get internet hooked up at the new house until late next week. Wish us lots of luck and PLEASE no rain! (Right now it's supposed to rain ALL weekend. We'd much rather move in 95 degrees and sunshine than rain.)

Another FO ~ One Skein Snarf

I made this up this weekend using the gorgeous cotton that was sent to me for June in the One Skein Secret Pal Swap. This worked up quickly and is extremely soft. I love the colors (which don't show up very well in the pic.) I don't know where my pal got this yarn but I would love to buy enough to maybe make something bigger next time. It was a lot of fun working with a new yarn for the first time!

The pattern for this can ba found here. I will either make a closure with contrasting yarn or try and find a big button like the pattern calls for.

Movie Review Monday ~ Click

Doug and I took a break from the stress of moving and went to see the new Adam Sandler movie "Click" yesterday afternoon. This was not what we were expecting at all. It's not the usual Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Waterboy kind of comedy. It really wasn't so much a comedy as a drama with some funny parts. Doug liked it a bit but I really loved it. A few parts actually made me cry they were so sad, but in a good way. I highly recommend this movie. It really makes you think about your life and the direction it's taking. I'd say it's fun for the whole family, but there were some parts that I personally wouldn't want a little child to see (i.e. extreme Doggie humping going on here) but IMO it's fit for anyone over the age of 10.

Some completed things

The first thing I finished this weekend is the Little Star Afghan. I made this for my niece Martika and made it larger than the pattern called for. I didn't measure it, but it's big enough for her to cuddle up in. I used almost a total of 36 oz of Simply Soft and used a G hook. If I ever make another one, I'll use a larger hook.

This one is the purse I made with the items I took out of the CAL Pals Mystery Box. I got the yarn and pattern booklet (In the Bag) from there and whipped this up for my other niece Sara. It was quick and I love how it turned out. The pattern called for it to be finished with Fun Fur all around and I didn't like the way that looked so I left it out. I think it looks great as is!

This last picture isn't something I made but my take in the "Dishcloth Swap" at CAL Pals. We each made as many as we wanted, sent them to Julie and she sent us the same amount back. They are all just lovely and I cannot wait to use them in my new home!

One down, two to go...

Well, we got our furniture yesterday! We found a lovely sectional at Ashley Furniture yesterday that was not only nicer but cheaper than at the other place we went! The chaise lounge portion (my chair) is actually much bigger AND it reclines! Only bad thing is we couldn't get them to go down on price one penny! They were very strict about the prices. Oh well, as opposed to spending over $3000 on just a sectional and waiting 3 months for it, we spent under $2500 and got the sectional with the scotch-guard/tear treatment, a matching little footstool that I am getting so that my husband won't complain about my yarn being in the living room (it'll hold enough for a WIP) and we got a new headboard! Plus it will be delivered in 2-4 weeks! (When we bought our new bed 2 years ago we couldn't afford a headboard and found a nice one reasonably priced there last night so got it.)

We were supposed to sign the papers for the new house yesterday but when we got there it was the husband and the wife had given him basically a "blank lease" and he literally spent over an hour trying to figure out how to fill it out! When it was all said and done we couldn't sign it because she didn't give him all the pages! UGH! Now, we really love the house but we just don't see how he's going to be done by the 30th! There are so many "little" things that need finishing and he seems to be moving at a snails pace. I guess we'll see but geez, this is really coming down to the wire! Oh, one thing that blew us away was the master bathroom! When we saw it the first time we couldn't really see everything because it was still being remodeled but it was finished last night. The bathroom is ALL NEW! New toilet, new sinks and faucets (marble countertop), beautiful decorative tile throughout as well as the shower stall! It's just amazing! We are supposed to meet with her this afternoon and sign. Please pray it all works out!

The third thing we were waiting on was the new car. We have been trying to get into a Chrysler Pacifica for a couple of weeks now and after we couldn't get the deal we wanted from the local place I called my nephew up in Indiana (who works for a Chrysler dealer there) and we have been trying to buy the car from him. We finally settled on the price and all and after filling out the credit app yesterday we were waiting to hear from him. He was to have called in the afternoon but didn't and we weren't able to get a hold of him last night. We'd like to get this vehicle without having to make another payment on my Civic (which comes due in a few days).

ARGHHHH! Deep breaths! I have to remember that or I'll go insane! Oh, and did I mention last post that we'll be without internet at the house for about a week?

Good news though, I have a job interview next week! Fingers crossed! My whole life is turning upside down in a matter of weeks here!

With all this going on I have been crocheting as much as possible as it helps me to calm down. I made an awesome purse for my niece Sara's upcoming birthday (thinking ahead on this one!) and am almost finished with my other niece Martika's star afghan. Will hopefully post pics in a day or so!
