SnB ~ My book finally came in!!!

I ordered Stitch N Bitch The Happy Hooker a couple of weeks ago and it finally arrived last night! It is wonderful! I can't remember the last time I really wanted to make more than 1/2 of the designs in one book! If you haven't yet bought this book, I highly recommend it!

Well, I am feeling better today. My horrible tension headache from Thursday was so bad yesterday I knew it wouldn't be long before it turned into a full blown migraine. My Dr. told me to come by the office and he'd give me some free samples. When I got there he had me go into one of the rooms and gave me an injection of Imitrex. I had no idea it came in this form. Well, it wasn't 5 minutes and my head felt like a giant weight had been lifted off it and I was HEADACHE FREE!!! Honestly, this was the first time I hadn't had some type of headache in months! WOW! I still feel great today and am hoping that this wonderful feeling stays around for awhile! It's amazing that something as simple as getting rid of a headache could feel so wonderful!

So, since I'm feeling so good I think I'll work on my hubby's Christmas present a little bit and hopefully when I get home from work it'll still be nice and sunny and I can relax in the pool!

Another sleepless night

It's 4am on Thursday morning and I should be in bed... UGH! I woke up at 3:15 with a horrible tension headache and if you've never had one it's one of the few headaches that gets worse when laying down. The more I laid there the worse it hurt so I'm up and watching a little T.V. I haven't been on my new meds for a month yet so I'm keeping an open mind. A few years ago I was on Topomax and it took almost 3 months for it to start helping. I really hope it doesn't take that long again. I was infactic about not going back on Topomax. Even though it helped it turned me into demon-lady and my sex drive was gone. My Doctor assured me that there are several different medicines out there which will help, it's just finding the right one.

I had an MRI on Monday due to some serious pain in my neck and left shoulder and he said that a few of the discs in my neck and upper back which are bulged are causing the canal in my spine to be smaller than it should be so there isn't enough of a space for things to move as they should. This is totally from the injury I had 4 years ago when I fell and popped my neck. He wants me to do home traction but I need to find out if the insurance will cover it first. In the meantime he gave me cortisone injections in my neck to help. It has definately helped but not totally. I can at least move my neck without pain now but I still get some tingling in my shoulder. My nuerologist is one of the best Dr's I have ever had, especially in this area. We have had our share of bad Dr's here so it's a pleasure to go to a Dr who doesn't think of you as a number.

Unpacking some of my boxes over the weekend I found the recipe for Potato Chip cookies that my mom used to make. My Aunt Carolyn found it for me and when she was down here a few months ago she gave it to me. I haven't done much baking lately and Doug's been asking me to make a treat so I will try to do this in the next week or so. When I first got my Kitchen Aid mixer and wasn't working so much I baked all the time. It's good that I don't bake as much as I used to but now when I do, we'll keep just a tiny bit of it and he'll take the rest to work. I got my baking genes from my mom and really enjoy doing it but we don't need all that junk.

This Christmas when I do my serious baking I am only going to keep a small tin of goodies. The rest will get sent to my family up north and will be sent to work.

Well, I think I'm going to finish watching Project Runway and then maybe try to lay back down again. If I don't get anymore sleep tonite I'll be a zombie at work...

WIP Wednesday

I've been keeping really busy with my crocheting the past couple of weeks. I just realized that it's August and I haven't even started on Christmas this year. I picked up the horrid pinwheels afghan again (for my dad) and since last Monday have completed 2 more squares for a total of 8 done and 7 more to go. UGH!

I also started working on my hubby's Christmas gift which is going to be a Tampa Bay Bucs afghan. I've been putting off starting it because I hate graph-ghans but I knew if I didn't start it soon, I would never do it. I am planning on getting some fleece and sewing it to the backside of the ghan so that you don't see the bad side and I think it'll be much more soft and cuddly. I started on it yesterday and have already completed nearly 20 rows. It's a major pain in my back side, but I think it'll be nice when finished.

I'm also working on a replacement package for my Papparazy Swap partner over at Crochet Mania. Somehow my package has lost it's way so I'm going to mail her another one. I got her package yesterday and it's just unbelievable. I'll post a pic hopefully tomorrow but she made me so many wonderful things, with my favorite being this beautiful bracelet!

My hubby has been getting on me about my eating habits. I am not a vegetarian but I don't like a lot of meat. I've always been a very picky eater so most nights I won't eat any meat with my dinner. The other night I just put tater tots and chicken breast in the oven for Doug and ate some tater tots myself and that was it. Last night I had Broccoli and Cheese rice but no meat. I won't eat steak and do not like seafood of any kind. I really don't eat a lot, but I eat a lot of junk. I need to find a way to really watch what I eat and make better choices but it's hard when you're as picky as I am. I blame my mother for not making me eat when I was a kid. I mean, I won't eat onions, peppers, mayo, anything with ranch in it, mushrooms and the list goes on and on. I would never survive on Dr. Phils diet or any reality show for dieters. That stuff literally makes me sick. Honestly, if there were an all carb diet, I'd be as thin as a rail! If you are what you eat, I would be a potato! I know, all that starch is bad for me. If you have suggestions for lo-fat, lo-calorie foods I can eat that I'll like, I'd sure like to hear about them!

Well, it's back to the graph-ghan from hell!!!!

Crochet Swappers Anonymous ~ Join Now!

I have started a new swap group in Yahoo for those of you who, like me, are addicted to both crochet and swapping. We will keep the group relatively small and will feature a different swap every month. We would love for you to join! If interested, click here to go to the Yahoo Group and ask to join. We have an open poll in there right now so that you can vote on what you'd like the first swap to be. We would love to have you join and can't wait to see you there!

Movie Review Monday ~ The Skeleton Key

I Tivoed this movie a couple of weeks ago and finally got a chance to watch it this weekend. It stars Kate Hudson and Gena Rowlands. It's more of a Thriller/Sci Fi and even though it was a tad slow starting out, after 20 mins I was reeled in. I normally don't like movies with "Voo-Doo" stuff in it but this was a very surprising movie on many levels. I especially liked the ending which I wasn't expecting and loved the twists and turns it provided. If you haven't seen it yet, rent it today. To go to the page on Yahoo and read about it, click here.
