A couple more FO's

I whipped these up in no time at all! I got the patterns for these from the AA's Booklet titled "Pot Holders Aplenty" which I found at Hobby Lobby. There are several more in there I'm going to attempt to make in the next couple of weeks. Some of them are on the advanced side, but it's so worth it in the end.

First pics of our new home!

Everyone's been asking for pics of the new place but until we are all unpacked and our furniture arrives, I don't really want to take interior pics. However, I snapped these 2 pics of the front yard as I was leaving for work this morning. One thing I have always wanted is a big palm tree in my front yard and as you can see, I got my wish!!!!

More pics will be coming in the next few weeks!

Secret Summer Swap Package

This package came in the mail on July 1st (my very first piece of mail in the new house!) but I didn't have a chance to post a pic til now.

I love everything my pal sent me!!!! I can't wait to try the yarn (what should I make with it?) and especially the card organizer! She also included an adorable Clothespin Angel kit to crochet, 2 cool scrunchies, some Tic Tacs in a new fruity flavor, a bookmark, stickers and birthday card!!!

She also sent me (not pictured) a seperate card with a ton of stickers in it!

Thank you so much secret pal for spoiling me so!!!

Butterfly Filet WIP

I took these pics last weekend while we were still moving into our new home. I have done probably another 10 rows since this pic was taken, but you get the general idea. I am using Caron One Pounders in White and my new Jimbo Hook which I love! This thing really is turning out much larger than I had envisioned. I was hoping it would fit a queen/king sized bed but as you can see, it overlaps on my king sized bed. I was planning on giving this to my niece for her wedding next summer but we'll have to wait and see how it turns out in the end. I was also thinking of getting some fleece in a contrasting color and sewing it to the back of this ghan to give it not only warmth but a little more stability.

Getting settled

Just thought I'd post a quick note. We are slowly getting settled into our new home and really love it. Tweety is doing much better and even though she still follows me around from room to room, it takes her a few minutes before she actually gets up to find me.

The Dish Network people came out and installed my TV but we are still waiting on hubbys. We ordered the HD DVR for him and the local shop needed to order that receiver. Hopefully this afternoon they'll be out there.

I have been working on several small projects as well as my Butterflies for the Filet CAL over at CAL Pals. My afghan is going to be huge. I spread it out on my bed which is king sized just to get a WIP photo and it hung off both sides of the bed! I'm only on row #29 and have used almost 2 full skeins of Caron One Pounders! The way this is going it'll take another 10 skeins to finish! It is looking lovely though! Once the internet gets hooked up at home I'll be able to post the pic.

Work is getting ridiculous. I am still waiting to hear about my possible "good news" but in the meantime I just want to scream! The girl who fills in for me when I'm not here (she works at our other store in town most of the time) is constantly doing things I tell her not to and then tells the owner a completely different story. The manager at our other store constantly has problems with her too but nothing seems to get done about it. I had Saturday off and when I came back on Monday she had written all over my calendar, downloaded a bunch of games on the computer (after I specifically told her not to!) and I found out from 2 customers that she closed 20 mins early! When I called her to find out what was going on with all of this she told me she closed late not early and then called the owner and started complaining to him about me. HELLO! It's my store! So now if I have a problem with her I have to call him and tell him first. Geez, it's just ridiculous! I can't wait til I don't have to work here anymore. She can have this store and let her see what happens. It's almost more trouble than it's worth to take a day off.

In other news we are still waiting to hear about getting the new car. We have the deal all pretty much done with my nephew but the problem is him getting it down here. I guess his boss is having a hard time giving him the Saturday he needs to drive it down here off. You'd think since it's to make a sale he wouldn't have a problem with it but I think my nephew works for my boss's twin brother or something! Let's keep our fingers crossed. Right now he's aiming at next weekend to bring it down here if all goes well.

Speaking of next weekend, it's our 5 year wedding anniversary (on the 15th) and since we are totally tapped out from moving and all we will be spending a quiet anniversary at home. Usually we will take a weekend trip somewhere close by but just can't swing it this time. Hopefully we'll be able to go see the new Superman movie and have some dinner. What in the world am I going to get him for an anniversary gift? I always have the hardest time with that.

Oh well, back to work. Thanks for everyones encouragement! It's been so wonderful to hear all the well wishes from everyone!

P.S. The day we moved I got a wonderful package from my Secret Pal! I just haven't been able to comment on it and was waiting til I had pics to post. Just so you know whoever you are secret pal, I loved everything! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

We've moved!

Well, the move has officially happened and we are now living in our new home! It was a very hot day so everyone was extremely tired but at least it's done! Now we are at the fun stage which is unpacking everything. Of course boxes that we labeled "priority, open first" have managed to get put on the bottom of piles and are all but impossible to find, but that's to be expected.

We spent most of Saturday on the phone with DirecTV. They were scheduled to come out and install service at our new home. (We've had them for years and years.) The tech gets there and tries to charge us for every little thing. Installation is supposed to be free and we weren't about to pay. We told the tech to hang on and we would call DirecTV and get this sorted out. He decided to "go to lunch" and never came back. In the process of 7 different phone calls to DirecTV that day we were "disconnected" 4 times and each person we spoke to gave us a different answer. We were assured that it was supposed to be free and since the tech left, the soonest they could get someone else to install the service would be 3 weeks away! HELLO! Why should we have to wait 3 weeks because they sent an idiot to our house? We went round and round with them and let's just say DirecTV will be getting a very nasty letter from us. So we are now going to go with DishNetwork. My hubby said they were coming out today to install it. I hope so as I don't want to miss Treasure Hunters tonite!

The doggies are doing well with the move. Fozzy is loving the new house and the tons of room to run around while Tweety won't let me out of her site. This morning when I left for work she followed me out to the car and before I knew it she had jumped on my lap! I had to pry her off me and give her to Doug so I could leave. Poor thing is still a little scared.

We had such a nice time going for refreshing dips in our new pool! The weather was very hot this weekend so inbetween the few showers that are common down here this time of year we were able to relax a bit in the water.

There are a ton of little things we have to contact our landlords about. Some things that were supposed to get finished but didn't and others that we didn't notice til we were there for a day. (He also left a pair of underwear and swimming trunks in the guest bathroom YUCK!)

We finally sold our furniture yesterday which was great but now we have to wait for our new stuff to be delivered. They were hoping for only 2 weeks when we ordered it but it may be up to 4. I guess for now we'll just have to make do by laying on the floor.

Well I need to scoot. Today at work has been extremely busy but I just wanted to check in. I won't have internet at home til the end of the week and it'll probably take me at least that long before I get everything somewhat back to normal.

I hope you and your families have a happy and safe July 4th!!!

P.S. Please show your patriotism (sp?) by NOT playing any songs by the Dixie Chicks!!!!
