Saturday Evening

Well, tonite after work, Doug took me to the Rockabilly show and we had a really nice time. I have to say thanks to Rachel from Crochet Pattern Central as if not for her advertisment of them on her site I would never have known about them. I cannot believe I forgot to take pics during the show! I alsways take pictures and tonite it just slipped my mind.

After the show Doug took me to dinner and we had Chinese. Since moving to Florida I have yet to find a good Chinese restaraunt. When I lived in PA there were several great places as well as back home in Michigan. I am a fool for good Sweet and Sour Chicken but the sauce has to be made right. Down here in Florida all the places make it with water instead of gelatin which makes it really runny. However, all day I've been craving S&S Chicken so Doug took me. He loved it as he would eat Chinese every day if I let him so it was nice.

Below is a picture I took a couple of weeks ago that I just love. Doug was in the pool and Fozzy was giving his daddy "five" and I snapped a picture. I just wanted to share it with everyone!

I know I haven't been posting many pictures lately and will try hard to get back into the swing of things. The past few days I have finally started feeling human again so I'm slowing getting my groove back.

In the meantime I hope everyone has a great weekend!

A little light at the end of the tunnel!

Well, my Dr. put me on a new medication starting this week and so far I am thrilled! I have still had headaches but haven't had them nearly as bad or for as long at a time! I am also sleeping like a baby!!! It does take me a little while to fall asleep, but once I do, I am dead to the world! I am also not yawning all day long like I was on the other meds. Let's keep our fingers crossed that this one does the trick!

I finished up the tote for my swap partner at the Ville yesterday and am really pleased with how it turned out! It took me 3 days here at work to get the lining sewn in but it's a much better sewing job than my friendship purse! I hope she likes it! I will post a pic once I am certain she has rcv'd it but I won't even get a chance to mail it til next week so it'll be a couple weeks yet before I can post a pic.

I am almost done with square #10 on my pinwheels which is awesome! Only 5 more to go! My new goal is to finish it by Halloween! Hopefully I can do it! I am finishing up a few more swap items and will get them all mailed out next week then I can devote some much needed time to Doug's Christmas present as I haven't even had a chance to pick it up all week.

It's been rainy most of the week and today is no exception. I don't think we're going to have a Shuttle launch on Sunday. The radar looks nasty and with as much rain as we've been getting and a 60% chance on Sunday, I doubt it'll go up. I was hoping it would as usually when it launches I'm working so I never get a chance to go in person to watch it. I was hoping I could convince the hubby to drive me to Paines Prairie so we could watch on Sunday. (It's a major spot where everyone goes to watch Shuttle launches that don't have badges to get to the Space Center in person.) On launch days, this area of road is literally full of hundreds of cars camped out to watch. Twice now I've seen the shuttle in the sky from my house but it's quite small and not spectacular. Back when I worked at K-Country I could have gotten credentials to watch the launches right there in the stands but was never able to do it. One of the things I miss about being in radio is that I'm a normal person again. Ah well...

Progress on Pinwheels ~ I'm getting closer!

I have been laboring on the Pinwheels Afghan for quite awhile now. Had I known what a difficult and time consuming pattern this was, I would have chosen something different. I am making it for my dad and what I originally planned to send to him this summer will now be a Christmas gift (If I'm lucky!)...

This ghan is made up of 15 squares which are done charted all in SC's which takes quite a bit of time in itself. Then you do this funky SC CH 4 SC CH 10 all the way around, lace the chains and then do a SC CH 10 SC CH 15 around and lace those. It takes a little over 8 hours to complete one square with the majority of the time on the last 4 rows.

I am now starting square #10 and am so excited I cannot even tell you! It really is pretty but it's very nerve-wracking. My dad had better appreciate it! Of course, all of the time spent on this one really has me behind on my other Christmas presents.

Doug and I talked and I won't be making nearly as many things as I did last year or in previous ones. I will still be making small things for my family with the biggest being this ghan for my dad but my nieces, brother, sister and the like will all probably get purses, scarves and such. This takes a tremendous load off my shoulders and maybe this year Doug and I will be able to spend a nice, quiet Christmas at home with our doggies not having to worry about obligations and other things.

I will try to take a pic of the pinwheels this week to show what it looks like so far. It's really hard to see the detailing of the laces on camera but it really is stunning.

Movie Review Monday ~ Survival Island

I am a huge Billy Zane fan and when I saw that a new movie starring Mr. Zane was on over the weekend, I Tivoed it. Now I have wasted 2 hours of my life I cannot ever get back. It was just horrible. The beginning was more of a soft porn showcasing Billy and his real-life fiance Kelly's huge chest. Once the story line got going it never really went anywhere and the acting was horrid! If you see this on your T.V. screen, hurry and grab the remote before you, too, get sucked into wasting precious leasure time away! Sorry to say this but I am no longer a Billy Zane fan. He has had a couple of good movies since Titanic but the past few years he's gone down the wrong drain and I cannot stand by hiim anymore. I honestly think he did his best work in Titanic and that's not saying much! UGH!!!!!

If you must, click here to go to the Yahoo link about this movie.
